지난 12일 월요일, 여의도 면적의 5배, 해외 미군기지 중 최대 규모인 주한미군 평택 캠프 험프리스기지에서 홀랜드 대령을 만났는데요.

On last Monday the 12th, I’ve met Col. Holland, the commander of US Army Garrison camp humphreys, what is set to be its largest overseas base. On completion of every installation in 2018, it is going to be five times larger than the Yoido in Seoul.

이 날 인터뷰는 공사가 거의 마무리 중인 험프리 기지 내의 주한미군사령부 건물에서 진행되었습니다. 이 곳에서는 전입 수속 등 모든 절차가 이루어지는 중요한 시설물로, 이러한 절차들을 편리하게 한 번에 해결할 수 있는 ‘원스톱’ 서비스가 제공될 예정입니다.

The interview was taken inside the new building that is getting ready to open in October. The new building compound which is called to “One Stop Processing Center“ will be provided the in-processing and out-processing to the military personnel comes and leaves the country. Col. Holland called the building as ‘Heart of Camp humphreys’ and it really meaned for its location and the service will be provided.

Today, I have an honor to interview with Colonel Joseph C. Holland in Garrison-Humphreys.

Colonel Holland has been served as a Garrison commander for two years.

He’s been making the great effort for ROK-US relations while supporting the defense security of this country.

1. What does R.O.K mean to you?

2. On your duty period in Korea, What's your major project or an issue that you've been focused on?

3. We have had some political chaos for last several months as you witnessed. Have you had any difficult or trouble because of that?

4. There are events and festivals held frequently in local area to enhance friendship between local Koreans and US military members and their families. What is the most excited event or festival you can recommend to your friends or US citizen? Is there any cultural understanding or mistake in those events which in need to adjust encouraging participation of US military and their families for the event or festival?

5. Is there a specific reason to keep holding the military installation opening event for we understand that the event must take a risk of terror or other harmful threat to the safety of US military?

6. Of course we do have some anti-US organizations, but also we do have lots of voices that we need to strength US-ROK alliances. Nevertheless, have you ever felt disappointment or hurt when the anti-US voices be heard?

7. When you feel like to visit ROK again later, is there any particular places do you like to visit for vacation or other occasion?

8. Finally, a word to Pyeongtaek, Asan citizens and Korean people!

It was great conversation with Col. Holland today.

As Tensions grow in region, keeping the good relationship between US-ROK is one of the most important thing.
